Website restrictions let you control which domains can load a chat widget. Use this to prevent the snippet from being copied to unauthorized websites.

Enable restrictions

  1. Open the inbox.
  2. Go to Channels.
  3. Find Chat widget.
  4. Turn on Restrict to specific websites.
  5. Add the allowed domains.
  6. Save the inbox.
Allowed origins can include domains such as: 
example.com
www.example.com
staging.example.com

Testing checklist

  • Add the production domain.
  • Add staging or preview domains if your team needs to test there.
  • Confirm the widget still loads on allowed domains.
  • Confirm the widget does not load on a domain that is not allowed.
If restrictions are enabled and your website domain is missing, the widget will not load for visitors.
