# Views and filters

> Filter operational data and choose the fields that matter to each workflow.

Views and filters appear across contacts, opportunities, tasks, schedules, and other operational lists.

## Filter records

Use filters to narrow records by built-in fields or custom data model fields. Examples:

* Contacts with a specific owner.
* Opportunities in a selected pipeline.
* Tasks due before today.
* Appointments for one appointment type.
* Conversations assigned to a specific inbox member.

## Choose visible fields

Use display options to show the columns that matter to the workflow. Custom fields from **Settings → Data model** can appear as columns when they apply to that object type.

## Save practical views

Recommended views:

| View                   | Useful filters                                                 |
| ---------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| My overdue tasks | Assignee is me, due date before today, status is not completed |
| Active opportunities | Stage is not closed, owner is my team |
| Upcoming appointments | Start date in the next 7 days |
| High-priority contacts | Custom priority field is high |

<Tip>
  Keep the data model clean. Clear field names make filters easier for everyone to understand.
