# Reports

> Build operational reports from Clearline views and exported records.

Use filtered views as the starting point for reporting. Clearline stores the operational data your team works every day: contacts, opportunities, tasks, appointments, calls, conversations, and outbound recipients.

## Report planning

Start by defining:

* Which object answers the question.
* Which fields need to be visible.
* Which filters define the segment.
* Which date range matters.
* Who needs the report and how often.

## Common reports

| Report                  | Source              |
| ----------------------- | ------------------- |
| Open follow-ups         | Tasks               |
| Upcoming appointments   | Schedules           |
| Active pipeline         | Opportunities       |
| Recent conversations    | Messages            |
| Outreach progress       | Outbound recipients |
| Contact list by segment | Contacts |

## Data hygiene

Operational reports are only useful when the underlying configuration is consistent. Keep these aligned:

* Data model fields
* Opportunity stages
* Appointment types
* Inbox assignment rules
* Contact ownership
* Compliance rules
